Training

At Aquila we train twice a week under the guidance of enthusiastic and experienced coaches. During training we focus on running drills, technique, strength training, and running schedules. Our program is designed for all running distances, from sprint to marathon, as well as combined events.

The training starts with a joint warm-up, followed by running drills and strength exercises. After that you can choose: follow a running schedule for (middle) long distances, or join the sprint or combined events group.

On Thursday evenings we always have a nice dinner together in the clubhouse after training, prepared by members. If you sign up with the board before 17:00, you can join for a tasty meal for just €5. On Tuesdays we often go for drinks at a café nearby.

Whether you’re just starting with athletics or running, or already experienced and looking for a fun training group, you are very welcome at Aquila! Come and try a training session without obligation and experience it yourself!

Aquila trainings:

Tuesday training (19:00–20:30)

  • What: Running and sprint training
  • Where: Olympic Stadium (opposite the big gate, across the track)
  • Afterwards: Drinks at a nearby café!

Thursday training (19:00–20:30)

  • What: Running and combined events training
  • Where: Olympic Stadium (opposite the big gate, across the track)
  • Afterwards: Shared dinner in the clubhouse!

Practical information:

  • Showers, changing rooms, and lockers are available in the stadium
  • Coats/bags can also be placed next to the track
  • If the Olympic Stadium is not available, we move to Arsenal

Phanos trainings

Aquila has had its home base in the Phanos clubhouse for many years. This also gives you the option of becoming an Aquila-Phanos member. This means you train with Phanos while still enjoying the social atmosphere and community spirit of Aquila.

This option is ideal for athletes who want to train at a higher level or need specialized training in specific disciplines. Want to know more? Ask the board about the possibilities and join the WhatsApp group to stay up to date with all activities and updates!
